Awesomely easy to use to backup my photos and financial files. Easy to move files to my other computer too Excellent product. no downside at all.
Very easy to set up. The ability to set up automatic reminders was a big pjus in my book.
It began backing up. I then had to shut down and reboot, plug click-free in again.
After reading the worst reviews indicating Clickfree didn't work so well with Windows Vista, I was worried but ordered it anyway. This thing is mahvahlous, dahhling.
Who knew the Clickfree has its own repair program and fixes itself in just seconds. Am so happy to report (1/23/10) Click Free worked with Windows Vista.
Plugged it in, nothing happened, so I read and followed the "Support Manual" instructions (clear and easy). and bingo.
I highly recommend the Clickfree.
I was pleasantly surprised to receive a more durable solid state unit that measures only 4 5/9" x 3" x 2/3". Although the age of our desktop made it necessary for the company to send me an additional power cord (which they did without charge), and the slow hardware connections characteristic of a decade old computer made the back up time a bit slower, this device managed to automatically back up all of my drives and saved me a great deal of work.
We had added a number of additional hard drives over the years to accommodate all of our files. My husband's filing system consists of saving his files "wherever the computer puts them".
We had almost 10 years worth of business files, photographs and other irreplaceable files on an old desktop that is starting to fail. This device was well worth the price.
The thought of trying to go through each drive to determine what might or might not be important was overwhelming. I purchased the 500 GB to back up this computer and both of my sons' computers.
My sons' computers are much newer, and even though they have accumulated large libraries of data, backup of their laptops took mere minutes. The description of the 500 GB Clickfree states that the dimensions are 5.3 x 2.7 x 8.1 inches, but that does not describe the unit I received. This was an upgrade I did not expect.
(An e-mail to Clickfree confirmed this). I bought this to allow my teenage daughter to backup her pictures/music/videos on a PC running VISTA. Clickfree (Not Windows) requires Admin access to allow the backup, and since I haven't allowed my daughter admin rights, she cannot back up her files without my help. VERY DISAPPOINTING - I had hoped to make her responsible for her own files. Works great if you are the administrator.Clickfree Automatic Backup 250 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive HD225 (Cherry Red)
